The chemical nature of selenium dioxide

Selenium dioxide (Selenium dioxide) + 4 valence oxide, chemical formula ₂ SeO. White crystal, steam for the green; When the melting point of 340 ~ 350 ℃, 340 ℃ sublimation, density 3.95 g/cm 3 (15 ℃), its acidic weaker than sulfurous acid.
Selenium dioxide is white luster needle crystal, white or reddish, shiny needle crystal powder, stimulating odour. Taste sour and have a burning sensation. Steam show yellow-green, with spicy. Has the water absorbability. Heat and light stability. 315 ℃ sublimation. Easy absorption of dry hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride and hydrogen bromide and generate corresponding halide selenium oxide hydrogen iodide. React with ammonia to produce nitrogen, and selenium, generated in the ethanol solution of ammonia selenious acid ethyl ammonium (NH ₄ ₂ H5 (C) SEO ₃], amorphous selenium with hydrazine generated nitrogen and black, with hydroxylamine hydrochloride generated nitrogen and red brown amorphous selenium, selenium acid and nitric acid. Can be carbon and other organic material reduction.
